Find out more about Jade's experience with us at Millfield Theatre. Jade was with us for 2 weeks and was given the opportunity to work with a range of departments.

The two weeks in which I spent completing my work experience at Millfield Theatre has been a joyful and fascinating experience. I was given the opportunity to carry out a range of different activities in each department including marketing, box office and technical which has advanced my knowledge and made me accustomed to a work environment. The staff at Millfield have been benevolent, welcoming, and always eager to help me learn more about what work life at Millfield is like.

As well as spending time at the Millfield Theatre I also got the chance to go to the Dugdale Centre and help set up a show for Ziggy’s World-Jazz Club. This consisted of me setting up the tables and chairs for the performance, learning the different types of equipment used by the technical staff, doing soundchecks of the microphones and instruments, and adjusting the sound levels of the music. I was also given the opportunity to volunteer and help with a show by Platinum Performing Arts School at Millfield which was the highlight of my week as I got to be an usher, sell ice-cream and was able to watch the unique and exceptional performance by Platinum.

Being a shy individual and going into a new place not knowing what to expect is usually a difficult thing for me to do but as soon as I came here I felt welcomed and was treated like part of the team. The staff are amazing, funny and diligent and I could not have asked for a better group of people to have worked with. A special thank you to Lily Bootman who has helped and guided me throughout the 2 weeks I have spent at Millfield Theatre and made it a wonderful experience.

Furthermore, my time at the Millfield Theatre has been an engaging experience in which I have learnt an abundance of skills that I will be able to utilise throughout my life and in my future career/s.

Thank you to all the staff at Millfield Theatre and Dugdale Centre for giving me this opportunity and to Ms Charlton for setting this up for me.
